Shirako Shrine

A village shrine in Shirako-machi worshiping white snake as a guardian deity. Also called as "the god of matchmaking" and popular among younger generation.

Tamasaki Shrine

Since Tamasaki Shrine has been a grand shrine and been placed an importance since Heian Period. Ichinomiya-cho was named after this shrine, Ichi-no-miya, the first shrine. Nowadays, this shrine is also popular among younger generation as a spiritual place.

Izuna-ji Temple

The main temple hall of Izuna-ji has a carved wooden panel of "Ushiwaka-maru and Great Tengu" sculpted by Nami-no-Ihachi. This temple also possesses the Great Wisdom Sutra written by the Emperor Saga himself.

Gyogan-ji Temple

This temple contributed to the improvement of culture under the support of the Tokugawa family. This temple has "Nami no Hoju" sculpted by Nami-no-Ihachi, sculptor in the late Edo Period, which had an influence on Hokusai Katsushika.

Kasamori Kannon

The one and only temple in Japan constructed by Kake-zukuri (overhang method of construction) of all sides, designated as a national treasure.
